The first roll of film

In 2010, I bought myself a film camera (Canon EOS-30) to use when I wanted to get myself out of the comfort zone of digital. With that camera, I'd have to really think before pressing the shutter.

And I enjoyed it. But as I went into photographic hibernation, I never went past the first roll of film. Here is what my first film attempt looked like:

Time to get back into it and put in that black and white film I bought at the time!

Back to the future: New toy!

My new toy arrived today!

Nah. Not the big old thing on the left. The other one. :)

It's the Canon EOS 30, also known as the Canon Elan 7 in the US. 4 frames per second (8 on my 7D). 7 focus points (19 on the 7D). Matrix metering with a whole 35 sensors (Focus Colour Luminance metering system which measures from 63 zones on the 7D). You can read more about it on Photo.Net. Not really an upgrade, right? And yet I couldn't be happier!

I can't help the feeling that there are a few things missing on the back though...

I can't wait to play with the cool Eye Control focus feature. Only 7 focus points but fun to see them follow the movement of your eye. It even works wearing glasses, which I was worried about.

I won the camera on Ebay and it came without a manual. No worry though, it can be downloaded from this online camera manual library.

Alas, work took over and I didn't get a chance to try it today. But the batteries are charged and the film is in. I'm all set for tomorrow.

Let the pre-visualisation, shooting and nail biting wait for processed shots begin!
